Bison on the Horizon Fundraiser To Benefit the Heritage Foundation For Germans From Russia (HFGR). This is to announce a unique product offering and fundraising effort for HFGR that features the new 2006 North Dakota State Quarters and a “Homestead Era” North Dakota state map, circa 1896. The new statehood quarters are eye appealing and the map is historic since it represents those settlements and villages that were populated more than 110 years ago as diverse ethnic groups sought homesteads, citizenship, and residency in North Dakota. The “Badlands with Bison” design on the newly minted quarter was selected to honor North Dakota in the 50 State Quarters Program in the third quarter of 2006. It depicts a pair of grazing American Bison backed by a sunset view of the ravines and buttes that symbolize the Badlands region. This product offering will be on display along with the HFGR materials at the 2006 GRHS Convention in Portland, Oregon from July 12-16. HFGR may use the proceeds of our donation to help GRHS fund its various activities and programs or its operating expenses. This could possibly assist in keeping membership dues from rising in the future. It makes a great keepsake for your memorabilia collection and is ready for framing. It’s not only different, desirable, and affordable, but it makes a wonderful gift idea for Christmas, a birthday, or maybe to bring to a family reunion as you share your heritage during that “Homesteading Era”. The price range is $10.50 to $22.50 (excluding framing, shipping, and handling). The map and coins are designed to fit a standard picture frame 11”x14” or 16”x20”, if our Rim Stone Red Designer Mat is used. Order forms will be available at the GRHS convention or you may contact the project manager, Allan Kiemele, a Charter Member of the Black Sea German Heritage Group of Minnesota, and a Life Member of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society of Bismarck, North Dakota.
